About the Event
The Brother Peter Mannion Grant Program was established many years ago. It honors the late Brother Peter Mannion, an FSSPJS Trustee and the President of CBA and the guiding light behind the program. For many years, he chaired the Grant Program and conducted the Awards.
The purpose of the Grant Program is to award $1,000 grants to deserving high school seniors with Irish heritage in Monmouth and Ocean counties. At its inception, the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick set a goal of awarding 10 grants each year. Through the hard work of the organization in fundraising, the goal for the number of Grants has been increased to 25 each year. The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick has awarded over $825,000 in grants since its inception. The Ad Journal at the Annual Black Tie Dinner is the primary source of funds for this program.
