Friendly Sons of St. Patrick
of the Jersey Shore
Foundation
The original purpose of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick of the Jersey Shore Foundation was to create a fund for a scholar-athlete to attend Monmouth College. Jim Dolan, the original driving force for the program, left the organization and there was approximately $8,500 left in the treasury for the Irish Youth Fund, an organization that had become the alternate beneficiary of the program. This was a student exchange program for a few years and it eventually evolved into our Grants program.

Brother Peter Mannion, former Principal of Christian Brothers Academy, Board Member and Irishman of the Year, was the driving force for the Grant program, which has distributed over $800,000 since its inception.

With the advent of the Black Tie Dinner Ad Journal, the number of grants has increased. Presently, the FSSP utilizes a Grants Committee to distribute the grants to deserving high school seniors of Irish descent.

The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation.
